Mason Marchment, Radek Faksa labeled day-to-day with injuries ahead of Game 3 vs. Vegas

The two Stars forwards exited Game 2 in the third period with unspecified injuries and never returned.

The Stars enter Game 3 of their first-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights with some unknowns as to who will be available Saturday night.

Forwards Mason Marchment and Radek Faksa both exited the 3-1 Game 2 loss at American Airlines Center in the third period with injuries. Neither player returned that night, nor skated at practice Friday morning.

Pete DeBoer provided an update after practice, labeling both day-to-day with unspecified injuries and saying the team should know more Saturday.

“Both progressing,” he said. “I’m optimistic. We’ll see.”

Tyler Seguin also did not skate at practice Friday, but that wasn’t a surprise, as he’s had scheduled off days throughout the last month. The Stars mixed up their lines as a result of the absences, but DeBoer said they were not necessarily indicative of what the team will put on the ice Saturday.

“I wouldn’t read too much into that,” he said. “We had some guys skate earlier that are at practice. We have some guys, obviously, that there are some question marks around. We’re just throwing around some things this morning.”

Marchment appeared in 81 games for the Stars this season and recorded a career-high 22 goals and 31 assists for 53 points. He also scored a goal in Game 1 of the series. Faksa skated in 74 regular-season games and recorded 19 points (seven goals and 12 assists).

The forwards were two of the most physically involved players in a battle on the ice Wednesday night. Vegas and Dallas combined for 108 hits. Dallas, alone, had 53 despite averaging just 17.8 per game in the regular season. Marchment, who scored a goal in Monday’s Game 1 loss, tied for a team-high seven hits while Faksa had six.
