What Cowboys’ Jerry Jones said about WR CeeDee Lamb’s contract extension situation

Could deals given to Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown and Philadelphia’s AJ Brown serve as a blueprint?

In the last week, two wide receivers, Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown and Philadelphia’s AJ Brown, signed massive contract extensions that give a blueprint to what Dallas might pay CeeDee Lamb.

St. Brown signed a four-year $120 million deal with $77 million guaranteed. Brown inked a three-year $96 million contract with $84 million guaranteed.

Lamb enters the final year of his contract and will receive a salary of $17.9 million. Lamb, who led the NFL in catches (135) and finished second in receiving yards (1,749) in 2023, hasn’t reported to offseason workouts.

It’s uncertain when Lamb will report to The Star for workouts as team officials contemplate what to offer him.

“I haven’t had time to think about them in terms of, I saw the same (contracts) you saw,” team owner Jerry Jones said. “Bottom line is I haven’t had time to think about them, especially with those receivers now, nobody was moving too fast to get involved. Now, I just don’t care to or even will express any thoughts about the contract or the impact of the contract.”

Not only are team officials trying to secure a long-term deal for Lamb, but quarterback Dak Prescott also enters the last year of his contract.

The Cowboys are also in current discussions with former running back Ezekiel Elliott about a possible return.

According to the NFLPA, the Cowboys have $7.1 million in salary cap space.
